Shalman Empire

The Shalman Empire (Atârio: Imnostleriēne Ŝâlmanoĉ, Greek: Αυτοκρατορία Σάλμαν), officially the Third Empire of Shalman (Atârio: Nâe Imnostleriēne iĉ Ŝâlman, Greek: Τρίτη Αυτοκρατορία των Σάλμαν) is a country in the fictional novel of "The Empire of the Unicorn", by the name of Andromeda. It is divided into eight governing island-districts. It borders with the Andromedan Republic (Atârio: Ixxmpōlġiëmë Andromêdët, Greek: Δημοκρατία της Ανδρομέδας) to the North, the Kingdom of Lomrie (Atârio: Ymrênië Lômriët, Greek: Βασίλειο του Λόμριε) to the South, the Empire of Lufner (Atârio: Imnostleriēne Lōōfnërĉ, Greek: Αυτοκρατορία των Λούφνερ) to the East, the Kingdom of Nemoria (Atârio: Ymrênië Nemôrieĉ, Greek: Βασίλειο του Νεμόριε) to the West and the Kingdom of Seramenor (Atârio: Ymrênië Sarâmenorĉ, Greek: Βασίλειο του Σεράμενορ) to the North-West. The Official languages are Atario (Atârio: Atârio, Greek: Ατάριο) and Greek (Atârio: Ellinikiēs, Greek: Ελληνικά).

The Shalman Empire is the biggest in size sovereign Empire on the planet of Andromeda. It is regarded as the cradle of all civilization, and the First Shalman Empire was the first organized state on the Planet. It is a Constitutional Monarchy, in which the both the Emperor(not elective) and the Prime Minister(elected by the people) are the heads of state.

The Empire is the most advanced, in all aspects, state on Andromeda.

General information

  • Flag: The Flag of the Shalman Empire is called the "Shalman Banner" (Atârio: Ŝalmanê, Greek: Σαλμανέ). It consists of three red-gold-and-blue stripes, a combination of the flags of the previous Empires of Shalman. The four stars symbolize the rule of the four Lords of Kombolar (Atârio: Ġênis iet Kômbolar, Greek: Λόρδοι του Κόμπολαρ). In the center, where the three stripes meet, there is the Imperial Coat of Arms, on a blue-and-gold shield, on top of which is a crown. The First flag of the Third Shalman Empire, as we know it today, was made in 1234 An.
  • Coat of Arms: The Imperial Coat of Arms is the symbol of the Empire. It consists of two unicorns, the one gold and the other silver. The Gold Unicorn, symbolizing the Emperor and the Empire, is wearing a crown, where as the Silver Unicorn Symbolizes the People of Naymor (Atârio: Nâymor, Greek: Νάυμορ) and is not wearing a crown. Between the two unicorns is the Imperial Crown, and behind them six flags: Two Shalman Banners, two Navy Flags and one Red Flag, the color of the Imperial House. Underneath the unicorns there is the Imperial Banner, which reads (in Greek): Ενότητα - Αυτοκρατορία - Δύναμη, meaning Unity - Empire - Strength, which is the Motto of the Third Shalman Empire.
  • Motto: Ενότητα - Αυτοκρατορία - Δύναμη (Unity - Empire - Strength)
  • National Anthem: Erntêlö ġa Imnostlērier (Greek: Ύμνος για την Αυτοκρατορία, English: Hymn for the Empire), originally a piano piece, later on (1340) became the National Anthem of the Empire.
  • Capital: (and largest city) Ylmeria (Atârio: Ylmêria, Greek: Υλμέρια) with a population of 3.000.000 people.
  • Official Languages: Greek and Atario (In some parts Old Atario is spoken too, although it's not an official language)
  • Demonym: Shalman (Atârio: Ŝâlmano-ßön[for a lad], Ŝâlmano-ßën[for a gal], Greek: Σαλμαλιανός, -νή)
  • Government:: Constitutional Monarchy
    • Prime Minister: ßērmiör Mâxx-Êlmör (Greek: Θέρμιορ Μάχ-Έλμον)
    • Emperor: Mēster Ōtönlixx IX (Greek: Μέστερ Ότονλιχ)
    • President of the Imperium: Ÿlmëra Lôrman (Greek: Ύλμερα Λόρμαν, English: Ylmera Lorman)

The History of the Shalman Empire is divided into six periods:

  2. The Falyor Era (-110 to -1 An)
  3. The Great Disaster (0 An)
  4. The First Shalman Empire (130-670 An[Anntērë])
  5. The Second Shalman Empire (680-1210 An)
  6. The Third Shalman Empire (1214-present)
