Shabash Bangladesh (song)
Shabash Bangladesh (Bengali: সাবাশ বাংলাদেশ) is a song by Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar, from his 2004 album Keno Tumi Sukhe Thakbe. The music and arrangement were composed by Ibrar Tipu and lyrics were written by Sohel Arman. The track was created as a theme song for Bangladesh national cricket team for 2004–05 season of Zimbabwean national cricket team's tour of Bangladesh, and it became one of the most popular cricket songs in Bangladesh.
About singing the song, Asif Akbar said, 'I was in Comilla at the time. The Zimbabwe team was going to tour Bangladesh. Before they arrived, the BCB planned to make a theme song for the Bangladesh team. I was supposed to sing this theme song. They somehow brought me from Comilla. I was in a very bad condition with a cold, a runny nose, and a cough. But who listens to whom? There is no way I can delay it. Because the tour is approaching. I sang the song in that condition. When I heard the song, I could understand my cold. The song became so popular that everyone showered me with enthusiastic praise. The song will be in the stadium and in any victory procession in Bangladesh.'
