School of Nursing

The School of Nursing, SDA Hospital Ottapalam was started in the year 2001. Under the auspices of the Kerala State Nursing Council, the Nursing School has completed 6 yrs of programmes.

Prior to this, the hospital conducted the Nursing Assistants Training Programme. Due to the fact that the set up and the operational structure is in place it was desired that the institution should upgrade their facility to General Nursing training programme. In 1996, the CMAI Board of Nursing Education, after inspection, granted provisional permission to start the General Nursing Programme. However, The INDIAN Nursing Council in 1997 advised SDA hospital to seek the State Nursing Councils’ approval to start the training programme. After approaching the State Government, the then Health Minister of Kerala, Sri. Kabeer Master, in recognition of the services offered by the hospital, played a large part in getting the Nursing School recognized by the State Government. On July 2001, the Kerala Nursing Council gave the needed recognition.

College of Nursing

The College of Nursing was inaugurated by MLA on September 14, 2011
