Seth Holladay

Seth Richins Holladay (born September 1978) is an American graphics and effects artist. He is best known for his effect art in Ratatouille and WALL-E. He was also a technical director for the 2006 movie Cars''.

Biography

Personal life

Seth Richins Holladay was born in Provo, Utah to Brent and Dana Holladay in September, 1978. He was the second born of eight children in his family. At the age of one, his family moved to Tampa, Florida and then to Longwood, Florida at three where he lived until he was nineteen years old. Seth Married Kira in 2001 and now lives in California with his wife, and 4 children. His interest in art started when he was a young child and often dreamed of animating for Disney. Returning to Brigham Young University after a 7 month internship at Pixar in 2005, Seth said "I've always had an interest in animals and arts. When I was 3, I loved Donald Duck." Seth studied to receive his MA from BYU while at the same time working for Pixar. On May 29, 2007 he defended his thesis which was titled "Intelligent Rotoscoping: A Semi-Automated Interactive Boundary Tracking Approach to Video Segmentation". His dream of working for Disney was realized in 2006 with Disney's acquisition of Pixar.

Seth is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission (1997-1999) in Córdoba, Argentina, where he learned to speak Spanish.

Position on LGBT Rights

Seth is opposed to same-[...] marriage. In 2008, he contributed $500 to the campaign for California's Proposition 8, which bans same-[...] marriage. The Proposition was passed.

Latest News

In 2008, Brigham Young University offered Seth a professional teaching job at the University which he accepted. He will leave Pixar February, 2009 to assume this position. He plans to maintain connections with Pixar as he does research in the future.
