Septicaemia (band)
Septicaemia is a Danish melodic death metal band that formed in early 2008. Although inspired by many other artists in the genre, the band has their own style and way of expressing them selfs. The members of the band are rather young, all under the age of 20.
History
Forming of the band
The band's guitarist Alexander, and future vocalist, Steffen, had conversed a little AbOUT forming a Music project. They then found another guitarist named Nichlas, and later their drummer, Kasper. Kasper had a basement where they were able to play loud music, and they used it as a kind of base. After a few times in the basement, Nichlas left the band due to personal reasons. Of course, the band had accepted it, turning to look for a new guitarist. Only weeks later, they accepted Sander into the band. Also introducing his bassist friend, Soren, Sander contributed with his own playstyle, adding a whole new sound to the band. He also later wrote one of their first songs, Dying Upon Blind Eyes, which is available on their Myspace profile. As the band was now properly formed, they began to write their own music.
The name
Septicemia is an ill-defined term referring to the presence of bacteria or their toxins in the blood. The term improperly mixes components of bacteremia and sepsis, and has been abandoned as a concept.
Sepsis is usually treated in the intensive care unit with intravenous fluids and antibiotics. If fluid replacement is insufficient to maintain blood pressure, specific vasopressor drugs can be used. Artificial ventilation and dialysis May Be needed to support the function of the lungs and kidneys, respectively. To guide therapy, a central venous catheter and an arterial catheter may be placed. Sepsis patients require preventive measures for deep vein thrombosis, stress ulcers and pressure ulcers, unless other conditions prevent this. Some patients might benefit from tight control of blood sugar levels with insulin (targeting stress hyperglycemia), low-dose corticosteroids or activated drotrecogin alfa (recombinant protein C).
Sound
The band states that they are a band with attitude and opinions that shines in the songs, which are mostly about putting question to life and the world we get born, live and die within.
To keep their image, they also stated: "By combining the breakdowns from Hardcore, the hatred from Death Metal, and the brutality and energy from Heavy/thrash Metal, the young danish metal-band, Septicaemia will soon desease you all!"
