Sensei Roberto Meza
Sensei Roberto Meza a student of Sensei Shinzato is an instructor of Shorin Ryu Karate. Shorin Ryu is one of the oldest styles of martial arts today. Sensei Meza first started his journey at the young age of 10 , and he has over 27 years of experience. He is the chief instructor of the Shinjinbukan Shorin Ryu Karate of TN. Training was much harder back then and it took much longer time to earn belts and he earned his 1st Kyu (black belt) after just 7 years. Afterwards he traveled to the United States to attend college in Southern California. Here he became a student of Sensei Nishiyama, whom under he earned his black belt. In the Late 90's Sensei Meza returned to his country, where he sought out Sensei Shinzato of Okinawa Japan. Sensei Meza worked hard and became his student and his only deshi (disciple). Together they formed the American Shorin Ryu Karate Association in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His many accomplishments include being the Co-founder of the Shinjinbukan Shorin Ryu of Florida, a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artist, a member of OSAC (the Overseas Security advisory council), a member of the Association of Certified examiners, the 1987 National Champion in Kumite and the member of the National Karate Team, and inducted into The Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Sensei Meza currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida under Shinzato Sensei once again.
