Self-Control (band)

Self-Control are an alternative rock / punk rock group fronted by guitarist/vocalist Ryan Botha. The band includes guitarist Echa Adisapoetra, bass/vocalist Jimmy Simatupang and drummer/vocalist Bayu Adisapoetra. The band released an EP album titled 'Life In A Story Book' on the 6th July 2008 to iTunes and other online sites. Self-Control has officially been endorsed by Macbeth Footwear owned by Tom DeLonge and their biggest moment is yet to come when they will be opening for Angels & Airwaves on the 7th December 2008 at Singapore's University Cultural Centre.

History

How it all started: 2004-2008

Self-Control formed in the midyear of 2004, consisting of four highly determined and motivated young musicians. The band has since congealed with the hunger to pursue their dreams of touring the world while gaining international recognition through their written music. Coming a long way from playing small shows around Indonesia, Self-Control put together a solid EP all on their own volition. Making the most of a region of the world that is almost barren with regards to music production, Self-Control pressed forward with their "can do" mentality to record their music with limited resources such as, sock filters and low-end microphones. However, they still managed to deliver a solid recording performance to all their fans despite all of their obvious set backs.

Publicity

Over the last few years, the band has performed numerous times on Live National Television (Indonesia, over 200 million in population). Self-Control has been interviewed by exclusive magazines such as, Hai Magazine (Indonesia) and LPM Voice Magazine (U.S.A). June, 2007 Self-Control was announced by Hai Magazine to be one of the top unsigned bands from Indonesia on Myspace.

Having performed with various Indonesian Major Label acts such as Radja, Tipe X and many more, their songs “Memories” and “Step by Step” have aired many times on FM radio (Mustang FM) and Internet radio (TLP radio). Self-Control has featured on the TLP Network of shows”, reviewed by David Bernstein, Producer of the TLP Network.

Self-Control have caught the interest of many Record Labels in America and have recently been entered in an International Compilation Album which will be released under C2M2 Records (Seattle, WA) / Local Promo Music (LPM). Self-Control was selected amongst thousands of other international bands viewed on Myspace to be on the International Compilation Album.

As Self-Control continues to fight for International recognition, they are winning over worldwide listeners on Myspace each week while continuing to sell their new EP and Merchandise at shows. Self-Control try and maintain a hard working spirit to achieve recognition within the music domain.
