Seed the series
SEED the series (a.k.a. SEƎD the series) is a science fiction series currently in development. It has been pitched as "Lost meets Battlestar Galactica wrapped up in an X-File" by its writer/creator, Rob Skiba. It is designed to have the mystery and intrigue of shows like "Lost" combined with the sci-fi appeal of shows like "Battlestar Galactica" containing themes, which were common in the X-Files (such as government conspiracy, U.F.O.s, aliens, hybrids, monsters, etc.).
History
The series has been in development since early 2009, with the goal of being a self-contained, self-financed (mostly through crowd funding) project designed for Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) self-distribution. Initially, a concept animation trailer was created just to give the audience an idea about the pilot episode story plot. This trailer can still be viewed here: http://www.seedtheseries.com/music.html. It has gone through some revisions, including the use of various composers who have applied to do music for the series. Early variants can still be seen with Skiba's production notes at http://www.seedtheseries.com/music2.html including submissions by the following artists:
- Joslin Dsouza
- Randall Harp
- John Mason
In 2013, series creator Rob Skiba connected with Grammy-nominated composer Scott Rockenfield, who is the co-founder and drummer of the American progressive metal band Queensrÿche. A Letter of Intent was signed shortly thereafter indicating that Rockenfield will be the primary artist composing the music for SEED.
In January 2014, Rob Skiba opened a "SEED office" in Addison, TX, where production on the audio drama version of the series began. These audio dramas are based on the existing TV series scripts, modified for radio. These can be heard at: http://www.seedtheseries.com/audiodrama.html.
In September 2014, Rob Skiba spent some time in Hollywood seeking an executive producer for the series. He is currently trying to raise $5.8 million to shoot the first three episodes of the series. This money is also to be used for the creation of a Netflix type of video streaming on-line platform for self-distribution.
