Sebastián Mantilla

Sebastián Mantilla (born 1979) is a filmmaker and screenwriter from Spain, known for his acclaimed 2004 short film, Con diva (With Diva). Other works include Looking for Marton, The Other Voice, White, and Bully the Kid. Next to Babilonia is his independent feature film debut about the Spanish mercenaries during the Iraq war, winner of Best First Film award at Madrid Int'l. Film Festival 2008 and Best Director award at the European Independent Film Festival 2009.

In 2004 he shot Con diva, the story of a homosexual Muslim who is trying to survive in Barcelona. It received recognition after its first broadcast on Televisión Española, and confirmed its potential at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was screened during the prestigious Critic's Week, and Sundance Film Festival. In 2005 he shot The Other Voice, White and Bully the Kid in Brazil and Spain.

Recent work includes short documentary The Captain and Barcelona Film Project as producer. His script Canal, trained at Torino Film Lab in collaboration with Script&Pitch, has been selected at prestigious EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) and PUENTES 2009 at Buenos Aires Lab. The film is scheduled to be shot late 2009.
