Scott Hill (composer)

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Resides in London, U.K.

Early Years

Trained as an architect at the avant gard Architectural Association (AA) in London, Scott won awards for his designs before focussing on MusicAL composition, forming the jazz fusion band, ESP with guitarist Tee (Tony) Warren. ESP performed over 200 gigs throughout the UK. While touring live, ESP developed strong bonds with the legendary Jazz Funk band, Morrissey Mullin. In 1994, he founded Esprit Music recording studio. While composing and recording pop music, Scott started creating ground-breaking instrumental fusion with gifted session musicians who also worked with Esprit Music. Scott's debut album, "Tribal Gathering" (1995) features the late [...] Morrissey on Saxophone and Myles Kayne from Londonbeat on Lead Guitar. The 1995 release of "Tribal Gathering" marked the beginning of the ASTRANOVA record label.

Collaborating with Ian Bethwaite's "Originator" (Corporate PR company), Scott's reputation for innovative music grew, leading to commissioned corporate themes for companies like KLM, John Smith's, Allied Bakeries, Foster's, Audi, Kronenbourg and ITVF1.com. Currently, with works published in England, Germany and Japan, his music has featured in films around the world as well as television programmes like "Malcolm In The Middle" , "Sleeper Cell" (DIRECTV, 101Network), "Marathon Du Sable" (Eurosport), and "Home and Away" (Seven Network). Scott's unique music has also featured on BBC TV and World Service Radio, SKY, Eurosport, CNN, ITV, Granada TV, ORF in Austria, ARD in Germany and Asahi Television in Japan.

Keyboard "Wizard", Scott Hill now has a decade of experience composing for Film, Television & Advertising...Specialising in "(Out of this) WORLD FUSION", Scott has collaborated with acclaimed classical flautist, Dave Heath (cohort of Nigel Kennedy) on the improvisational music of DREAM VOYAGER (1996) and with keyboard virtuoso, Jezz Woodroffe (co-writer with Robert Plant's "Big Log", Phil Collins's "Pictures at Eleven" and "The Principle of Moments") in QUASAR (2002). Other notable collaborations include, "RED PLANET, Mission To Mars" (2008), narrated by astronomer Sir Patrick Moore ("The Sky At Night" - BBC), and "PASCO", with dutch sound-sculptor, Patric Bakkenist. (PASCO albums: "GUARDIAN ANGEL"1 (2003), winner in the international Compo10 song contest, and "SYZYGY" (2004) one the the first surround-sound independent LP's to be released.)

With comparisons to diverse artists like Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Moby, Joe Zawinul, Enigma, Janni, Enya, Tricky and Jean Michel Jarre every album in the collection explores new soundscapes...From the totally ambient improvisation of "Dream Voyager" to the dynamic Punjabi Jazz Space Fusion of "QUASAR"...from the mp3.com chart-topping Latin Jazz of "Mediterranea" to many unique World Fusion titles, "African Inspirations", "PANGAEA, 1 World", "LIVE THE DREAM" and "World HORIZONS", Scott's eclectic work spans a wide variety of genres.

Modern Days

In 2004, Scott Hill started up "AMBIENT WORLDS"2, the podcast. Based on the international popularity of this show, Scott Hill's label signed a global deal with iTunes and ASTRANOVA evolved into ASTRANOVA / AMBIENT WORLDS. Other Innovative Artists, composers and bands joined the label's international team of artists and composers.
