Sanjeewan Vidyalaya
Sanjeewan Vidyalaya is a private boarding school in Panchgani, a hill station in the state of Maharashtra, India.
The school has three main campuses and a large sports ground.
History
The school was initially started in 1921 under the name of Hindu High School by the Pandit brothers. The school had only three students when it began.
Later, during the partition of India into India and Pakistan, it was burned down as a result of Hindu-Muslim rioting, after which in 1948 it was rebuilt under the name Sanjeewan Vidyalaya with Sharad Pandit as its principal.
Current Management
Currently the school is run by the Sanjeewan Vidyalaya Trust, with solicitor Ramdas Gandhi as its chairman.
Over the years Sanjeewan has changed drastically. The old buildings add to its beauty (though some have been demolished and new ones built).
Sanjeewan Vidyalaya has both Maharashtra State Board (SSC) and CBSE and produces some of the best results in Panchgani. It is foremost in the field of extra-curriculars with good sports teams. It is also the only school in Panchgani to have a swimming pool.
Functioning
The school has Maharashtra State Boards (SSC) and the Delhi Board (CBSE). It is a co-ed cchool. The school runs classes from 3-12 (classes for 11-12 CBSE only). It has three campuses, known as the Living and Learning Complex. The campuses are very close to each other.
LLC-1 is the oldest and the largest of the three campuses and includes dorms, classes, a multi-purpose hall, open-air hall, trust office, accounts office, staff residence, student stores, and dining hall. Now students of class 3-8 stay here and classes for standard 3-5 are conducted here.
At LLC-2 students from class 9 and 10 stay and classes for standard 7-10 are conducted. The campus has a swimming pool, basketball court, lawn tennis court, fine art complex, library, laboratory, dining hall, and gardens.
LLC-3, commonly known as VTC (Vocational Training Center), resides students of standard 11-12 and their classes are held here. There are two streams, science stream and commerce stream. The campus is surrounded by gardens and has small playground. LLC-3 has a laboratory, a small library, computer lab, and fashion designing lab.
Sanjeewan Vidyalaya conducts tests for NIOS (National Institute for Open Schooling) for the many locals and rural people.
The school has an 8-acre playground called Sharad Pandit Stadium. It also has a 25 metre swimming pool which has bred some of the finest swimmers in the Satara District.
