Samkim
Samkim is an anthropomorphic squirrel from the book Salamandastron in the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.
Samkim was an archer, causing much trouble whenever he used his bow. When Brother Hal was found dead with an arrow in his head and Samkim standing with a bow in his hands, everyone blames Samkim; however, two stoats named Dingeye and Thura, taking refuge at Redwall, were the real perpetrators. Samkim is locked in the infirmary along with his friend Arula, but escapes to track down the stoats and recover the Sword of Martin.
Samkim finds each stoat in different places, both already dead. He learns trackers were sent from Ferahgo the Assassin's horde to find and kill the stoats. However, Thura had already died from Dryditch Fever. Samkim, with Arula and Spriggat the insect-eating hedgehog, sets off in pursuit of the trackers.
Samkim reclaims the sword after its carrier was slain by a monster called the Deepcoiler during a duel between Samkim and the vermin on a logboat. Samkim, within moments of reclaiming the sword, loses it again as he stabbed it into the roof of the Deepcoiler's mouth. The Deepcoiler luckily washes up on an island the next day and is retrieved by the badger, Mara.
