Sam Reay

Sam Reay is a professional rugby league player who currently plays for Wigan Warriors. His position is Full Back / Centre, but has played loose forward.

Early life

He is a former pupil of Golbourne High in Wigan.

Sam gained Rugby League international and representative experience with both England and Lancashire schoolboys.

Professional career

Sam started his professional career after signing for Wigan Warriors as a reserve grade player.

He switched codes to play Rugby Union for The Famous Orrell R.U.F.C. Rugby Union Club alongside current England Rugby player Nick Easter. Orrell R.U.F.C. were relegated for two consecutive years and after many broken promises by the Orrell club Sam moved on to Rugby Union Club West Park St Helens. During the 2006 / 7 season Wigan Warriors approached Sam AbOUT a possible code switch back to Rugby League. He re-signed for Wigan during the 2007 season, playing Full Back for the reserves.

He made his first team debut for the Warriors on the 13th January 2008 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium against Warrington Wolves. He made two further appreances for the first team in games against Bradford Bulls and Widnes Vikings.

Sam went out on loan to National League Two side Doncaster RLFC playing five games. He returned to Wigan Warriors for the remainder of the 2008 season.

Personal life

He married Anna Featherstone May 2007.
