Saipancakes is a blog website that displays multiple creative ways to make a pancake. Pancakes area typical breakfast foods that are eaten in the morning. Saipancakes come with a variety of fillings and toppings with different kinds of tastes. However, a math teacher turned pancakes into artwork.

AbOUT Nathan Shields

Saipancakes were created by a former Mathematician teacher Nathan Shields, who taught Mathematics at the Fort Vancouver High School for about six years in Vancouver, Washington. After those six years of work, Shields decided to be a stay-at-home dad. As a stay at home Dad, Nathan used his illustration art skills to turn breakfast pancakes into an educational activity for his children. When Nathan and his family when to Saipan for a trip, he made creature pancakes for his children, as he called its " Saipancakes ".

According to Nathan, he used this equipment to make the art for all of his pancakes:

  • 12-oz wide mouth squeeze bottles.
  • extra-wide spatula
  • 12.75-inch nonstick pan from Scanpan
  • Infrared thermometer (cook at 460 degree)

Recipe and ingredients

Nathan Shield shared his recipe to the world that he have done a lot of test for the recipe to be perfect:

  • 3 cup of Flour
  • 2 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 3 tablespoon of melted butter or substitute
  • 2 cup and 3/4 cup of Soymilk
