Safford Police Department (Arizona)

The Safford Police Department is the municipal police agency serving the city of Safford, Arizona and some outlying areas. It serves approximately 10,000 people.

Fallen officers

Deputy Constable James Haines was shot to death in the line of duty on August 26, 1879. Deputy Haines was killed by a man he was attempting to arrest. He had been sent to Fort Thomas to arrest J. R. Collins on a warrant. Collins and two other men were arrested. After an inquest, the [...] charge was dropped as it was ruled justifiable.
