Russ Spencer (American politician)

Russ Spencer is an American attorney, military officer, and political candidate. He is a Republican candidate for the Idaho Senate from the 20th district in Ada County, Idaho.

Early life and education

Spencer is a seventh-generation Idahoan from the Treasure Valley region. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later earned a Juris Doctor degree from Antonin Scalia Law School.

Legal and military career

Spencer worked as a prosecutor in Bonneville County, Idaho. He later served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Idaho and as general counsel for the Idaho Board of Medicine.

In addition to his legal career, Spencer has served as a captain in the Idaho Army National Guard.

Political career

In 2026, Spencer announced his candidacy for the Idaho Senate in District 20, representing portions of Ada County including parts of Meridian.

His campaign platform emphasized fiscal conservatism, gun rights, parental rights in education, public safety policy, and opposition to abortion.
