Rule Broadcast Systems

Rule Broadcast Systems, Inc. is a New England company that rents, sells and provides engineering services for video production. It is comprised of three divisions - Rule Boston Camera Rental, Rule Sales, and Rule Engineering Services. John Rule is the chief executive officer and company president; Brian Malcolm is the general manager.

History

Boston Camera Rental Company was co-founded by John Rule in 1982. In 1990 Rule left Boston Camera to start Rule Broadcast Systems, Inc. In 2008 the two companies merged to form Rule Broadcast Systems Inc. A goal of the merger was to provide more services and enable competition with the two major United States movie centers (New York City and Los Angeles), taking advantage of the increase in the number of films shot in the area, capitalizing on the motion picture tax credits established in Massachusetts.

Sponsorship

Both companies have sponsored local film and video cultural events, including visual arts organizations, film festivals, technical support to amateur filmmakers, and internships to students.
