Ruhul Amin (militant)
Abdul Raqib Amin, also known as Ruhul Amin (February 1989 – 21 August 2015) was a Bangladeshi-born British militant who joined the Islamic State in 2014.
Amin was born in northeastern Bangladesh, and was raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was reportedly an Engineering student at the time of his joining IS. He was described as having been radicalized in Leicester.
In a July 2014 interview with Good Morning Britain, he described how he had moved to Syria to train, and described his plane taking off at Gatwick as “one of the happiest moments of my life”. In Syria, he took on the nom de guerre of Abu Bara’ al Hindi.
Amin died in an RAF drone strike in Raqqa, Syria in August 2015. Along with Reyaad Khan, he was the first UK citizen targeted by the British government.
