Rudy Reyes (Marine)

He is best known for being a former ACTIVE-duty Recon Marine and having played himself in the HBO series, Generation Kill in July 2008.
Personal Life
Rudy was born at Richards-Gebaur Air Base in Kanasas City, Missouri whilst his Father was en route to Vietnam. He wore metal leg braces and corrective shoes at age 2 and at age 4 his parents divorced and was raised by his Grandma, Carmen, until age 8. Both his Grandma and Grandpa died in 1979 and spent several years shuffling between various relatives. In 1984, aged 13, Rudy ended up at Omaha Home for Boys. 2 years later he became the school's undefeated wrestling champion. At age 17, in 1988, Rudy emancipated himself and took custody of his two younger brothers, Caesar and Michael.
Martial Arts
In 1986, aged 15, Rudy discovered Kung Fu at the local YMCA. In 1994 he became the Midwest Champion under the guidance of Kung Fu and Tai Chi Master, Chun Man Sit. Over the next 2 years Rudy won 14 gold medals; 4 at the Wushu-Kung Fu Midwest Championships, 5 in '97 and 5 in '98 at the Jing Woo International Grand Championships. To this day Rudy is one of only 2 American born martial artists to defeat the fighters of the prestigious Jin Woo Academy, the other martial artist is Bruce Lee.
Military Service
In 1998, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps boot camp. After a gruelling process he earned the title Recon Marine, the elite of Marine Corps Special Operations Reconnaissance. From 2001-2004 Rudy served in three tours of duty, including Afghanistan's "Enduring Freedom" and Iraq's "Iraqi Freedom" campaigns.
During his tour in Iraq, reporter Evan Wright, followed Rudy's 1st Reconnaissance battalion to write an investigative report which turned into the book, Generation Kill.
Acting
In 2007 HBO cast Rudy to play himself in the television series, Generation Kill. Rudy was also employed as on set military advisor and fitness trainer to the cast and crew.
Personal Training
Rudy is now concentrating on his personal training business in California using his workout philosophy "Hero Living ".
