Rocky Burton
Rocky Burton is an American author, musician, and former radio personality known for writing horror, thriller, and crime fiction novels. Burton is the creator of the Manatee Murders series, which includes Sins and Murders and The Scarecrow of Moccasin Wallow. His writing has been influenced by authors such as Stephen King and John Sandford. In addition to his literary work, Burton has also worked as a musician and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant.
Burton's fiction often combines elements of psychological horror, Southern Gothic themes, crime investigation, and dark humor. His later works include Bastard and the Buffalo Burger Chronicle #1 Part 1 & 2, along with several announced projects in development.
Early life and education
Rocky Burton was born in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. He later worked as a disc jockey for radio stations 101.9 KBMX and 93.5 KRMS in the Lake of the Ozarks region. Burton has described himself as a high school dropout before later attending Linn State Technical College, where he graduated in 2000 as a Physical Therapist Assistant and was recognized as Student of the Year.
Before becoming an author, Burton pursued a music career and performed in bands that opened for artists including Alabama, Molly Hatchet, Kansas, Rick Derringer, and The Guess Who. He later produced music under the names Sagittal Plane and Six Hundred Feet South.
Burton eventually transitioned into fiction writing, publishing his debut novel Sins and Murders, the first installment of the Manatee Murders series. The novel received positive reader reviews and helped establish Burton's presence within independent horror and thriller fiction circles. He later released The Scarecrow of Moccasin Wallow and Bastard and the Buffalo Burger Chronicle #1 Part 1 & 2.
