Rock Harbor Church
Rock Harbor Church is a non-denominational, Evangelical Christian megachurch located in Costa Mesa, California. Primarily focused on the postmodern generation, Rock Harbor characterizes many aspects of the Emerging Church Movement, but the church rejects any association with the controversial movement, as it tends to be more conservative than the majority of Emerging communities.
History
Rock Harbor was founded in 1997 when a young pastor named Keith Page, and his team from Mariners Church in Irvine, California established an evangelical church in Costa Mesa that would appeal to unchurched postmoderns.
The search for a permanent facility lasted more than seven years until 2004, when the church purchased a warehouse in east Costa Mesa that became the church's first official building, including a 1,000-seat auditorium, called The Centre. In 2008, rapid growth led to the purchase of an additional building near the existing one, which currently serves as the administrative offices and classrooms for Christian education.
Rock Harbor currently has seven weekend services and averages 5,000 people in attendance per week. The average age of the congregation is 30 and the church has become extremely popular with Orange County college-age young adults. The church is known for its emphasis on evangelism and international social outreach ministries.
