Robinson Sheppard Shapiro

Robinson Sheppard Shapiro, also known as RSS, is a Montreal based law firm. It provides insurance law, professional liability law, business law, litigation, family law, and labour and employment law services.

History

Robinson Sheppard Shapiro is an independent law firm from Montreal.

Benjamin Robinson and Joseph Shapiro, both McGill University graduates, founded the Robinson & Shapiro law partnership in 1921. It was located in the Transportation Building at 132 St. James Street West, in the City of Montreal.

A famous case that put RSS on the Montreal legal map was the Morgentaler v. The Queen 1973 case, as Claude-Armand Sheppard was Dr.Henry Morgentaler's lawyer. He successfully defended him three times in front of a jury. A documentary was produced by the CBC and published by the National Film Board.

Celebrating its 90th anniversary, the firm donated $230,000 to the Law Faculties of McGill University and Université de Montreal.

In 2014, Robinson Sheppard Shapiro was listed 153rd on LesAffaires.com's Top 300 Small and Medium Businesses of the province of Quebec.
