Robin J. Elliott
Robin J. Elliott is a South African-born entrepreneur specializing in joint ventures. He is a trainer, marketing consultant and author who has worked in Africa, Canada and the US.
Live Seminars
Elliott presents his one day Joint Venture Bootcamps and Mom Comes Home Workshops across Canada and the US. Elliott states in his forthcoming autobiography that Mom Comes Home, a campaign to teach mothers joint venture techniques so that they can stay at home and take care of their children, was inspired by his daughter Sacha when she gave birth to a child with Down Syndrome and needed a way to make money whilst raising her son.
Techniques
Elliott's basic approach with joint ventures is twofold (although in Joint Adventures he lists 30 separate joint venture strategies):
Firstly, he subscribes to Zig Ziglar's approach of
You can get anything out of life, if you’re prepared to give enough other people what they want
ie. if you can find out what another person or organization needs and fulfil that need, you will be able to get what you want in return.
Secondly, he argues that every resource you need is already available to you since through the power of leverage you can access money, databases, distribution, credibility or anything else you might need via joint ventures.
He advocates the use of a memorandum of understanding when setting up joint ventures to prevent misunderstandings without recourse to creating potentially expensive legal contracts.
