Robert Cleaver
Robert Stevenson Cleaver (May 221914 - November 201942) serial number 0-432331, First lieutenant, United States Army Air Force. His decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Chinese Army, Navy, Air Corps Medal, Class A, 1st Grade.
Cleaver enlisted as Aviation Cadet at Vancouver Barracks, Washington on March 151941. Commissioned as Second Lieutenant with rating of bombardier on December 161941 at Pendleton Field, Oregon. Was a member of Ted W. Lawson's B-25 crew ("Ruptured Duck"). He was injured during crash-landing in China in the aftermath of the Doolittle Raid (April 181942). After evading capture with the rest of the crew, Cleaver eventually made it back to the United States. He was stationed at Baer Field, Fort Wayne, Indiana when he was killed in an airplane crash near Versailles, Ohio on November 201942.
