Rob Moore (South African Entrepreneur)
Rob Moore is a South African entrepreneur, who founded Touchline Media and ExtraTime S.L. Moore currently heads the ExtraTime S.L, founded in 2003. Moore is among the most influential figures in South African football, with clients including Benni McCarthy and Steven Pienaar.
Life
Moore began as a footballer but was forced to abandon his hopes of a professional career after being breaking his leg. He then did a railway electrician apprenticeship but after deciding that it was not his passion, he pursued a career in journalism
Media Carrer
Moore founded Touchline Media in 1989 as a sports publisher, bringing readers across South Africa titles included SA Sports Illustrated, Kick Off, Runner’s World and Golf Digest. With the launch of powerhouse global brand Men’s Health in 1997, the company diversified its offering to become a lifestyle publisher. The growth of Touchline meant the company being named as one of South Africa’s Top 10 Non-Listed companies. Moore ended up MD of the Touchline, with a 50% shareholding. Over a few years he built the company from a one magazine business to a publishing house with eight titles, a thriving sports photo agency (later sold to Getty Images), Internet and TV productions. Moore sold his Touchline shares to Naspers for a hefty amount in 1999.
Soccer Clubs
Seven Stars
In 1995 Moore founded Seven Stars Football Club. In 1997, 19-year-old Benni McCarthy to Ajax Amsterdam for the record transfer fee in South African football. In 1998 Seven Stars gained promotion to the top professional league in South Africa. In Seven Stars' first season they ended 5th in the Premier Soccer League and this remains a record high finish for a newly promoted team in South African football.
Ajax Cape Town
Ajax Cape Town was formed in October 1998 through the merger of Seven Stars and Cape Town Spurs Football Club. Moore, the Chairman and owner of Seven Stars Football Club went to Ajax Amsterdam to conclude a transfer. During the transfer talks the board of Ajax Amsterdam indicated to Moore that they would like to establish a Football Development Academy in South Africa where they could source and develop players. Moore developed a blue print for the Football Development Academy as discussed with the Ajax Amsterdam board. The blue print was accepted by the Ajax Amsterdam and Moore returned to Cape Town charged with initiating the establishment of the Academy. Steven Pienaar was the first ever player to transfer from Ajax Cape Town to Ajax Amsterdam
Career in Football Management
ExtraTime
Moore created ExtraTime S.L. in 2002. He and his wife relocated with their three children to Barcelona and led the launch of ExtraTime S.L. As Chief Executive Officer of the company his first employee Ivan Modia, was in charge of player transfers of the company. In early 2009 Mo[ore expanded ExtraTime to its current staff of five.

In March 2010 ExtraTime announced that it had entered into partnership with ForwardZone in South Africa to "focus on getting more young, talented players to the point where they can make it into topflight play in the world's biggest leagues. The goal is to get these players over to Europe as early as possible, which will give them a better chance of making it."
