Rick Cataldo
Rick Cataldo is an American professional wrestler and manager who regularly wrestles for Women's Superstars Uncensored, The World of Unpredictable Wrestling, and various other independent promotions. He is known primarily for managing wrestlers and competing with women's wrestlers. He does, from time to time, wrestle men. He is known for his eclectic outfits and gimmick, a homosexual male competitor.
Professional wrestling career
Independent wrestling
Rick Cataldo was trained at the Independent Wrestling Federation professional wrestling school. Cataldo debuted on February 19, 2005 at the IWF Centre, for IWF Wrestling in West Paterson, New Jersey, managing Eddie Krayz to defeat at the hands of wrestler Sean Royal, on Day 1 of the February Fury weekend. On June 26, on the Summer Sizzler event, Cataldo managed wrestler Nick Sabre in a triple threat match eventually won by Travis Blake. As a manager, he got his first victory managing Nick Sabre and Rob Morrison on July 31, 2005 at the Commissioner's Cup Tag Team Tournament. Cataldo debuted on November 20, 2005 with IWF in a six man tag team championship and ended up victorious in his debut. In the summer of 2006, he made his last appearance for the IWF, losing a beauty contest to Eloy Fiesta.
From there, Rick moved on to further independent wrestling work for several companies, including AWA (now American Championship Entertainment) where he began managing former IWF trainee, Alicia. He also fought in a bout for the AWA Women's Championship, losing in an unsuccessful effort to the champion, Melissa Stripes. Around the same period, competing for TMPW, he lost in a title defense by Lady Lee for the Intergender Championship. While he lost again to Lady Lee in a bra and panties match for the championship, he managed Robby Morrison to the TMPW Light Heavyweight Championship. In addition, Cataldo debuted on January 27, 2007 for WUW, managing Taylor Mercado to a loss to Chris Romano. Cataldo debuted for the budding Women's Superstars Uncensored promotion, taking on his former client, Alicia, for the WSU Championship, on an event which included WWF/WCW/ECW wrestler Luna Vachon. He was unsuccessful in winning, but made subsequent appearances with the promotion, with manager Vinny the Guido before eventually Vinny was banned from WSU by the end of the year.
In 2007, Cataldo appeared as Lino "The Flower Kid" for WUW. He continued to compete for WSU, taking on Alere Little Feather, Mercedes Martinez, and Amy Lee. He also appeared with AWA yet again, fighting Alexa Thatcher, who had just wrestled for TNA versus Awesome Kong and Gail Kim, for the Women's Championship. Alexa retained her championship.
In 2008, Rick split his time between WSU, WUW, and AWESOME. He, in fact, made his biggest strides with WSU, having the opportunity to compete with then-TNA Knockout Champion Awesome Kong, ECW original Angel Orsini, TNA knockout, Traci Brooks, and, outside of in-ring competition, Sunny aka Tammy Sytch and Dawn Marie. This was also that year that Rick teamed up with Annie Social and Roxxie Cotton to form The Beatdown Betties. In September of that year, they captured the WSU Tag Team Championships, becoming the first tag team champions in the company's history. At the same time, the dynamic of the team changed, with only three people and two championships, primarily belonging to Roxxie and Annie. In WUW, he managed The Muskateer under the name Montie-Q Laveaux to a victory over Minyon. In his last match of the year, wrestling for WUW, Rick Cataldo defeated Jana and Roxxie Cotton.
In his first match of 2009, however, the Betties lost the WSU Tag Team Championships to former TNA Knockout Champion, Taylor Wilde, but regained them later than night as a full team of Roxxie, Annie, and Rick, cementing Rick's reign as WSU Tag Team Champion. This caused conflict in the group between Annie and Rick, primarily. It was on February 7, 2009 that Rick and Roxxie lost the championships to the team of Brooke Carter and Miss April. Soon, as the feud continued, Cataldo had an on-screen relationship with referee Sean Hanson, which added even more problems between the Betties. Also in early 2009, in WUW, Rick Cataldo began a "romance-denied" angle with Chris Verrazano, until, finally, Verrazano and Cataldo partnered up.
