Richmond Practice

Richmond Practice (UK) is a Care Quality Commission registered private doctors' service based in the centre of Richmond-upon-Thames, in London. It was established in September 2005. The name taken from its location: 'Richmond' and combined with the word 'Practice' (Praxis in German), which is readily connoted by a multi-lingual audience to a place from where doctors can be consulted in the community. Richmond Practice provides a private doctors’ service to local and international families and corporations. German, French and English speaking private GP’s, Consultant Gynaecologists, Paediatricians and a Radiologist work together as a multi-disciplinary team. Where necessary diagnosis is aided by ultrasound technology and laboratory tests performed on-site. Patients can attend in a medical emergency, for routine investigations and health checks Monday to Saturday and can usually get an appointment on the same day.

The model has its roots in the German medical system and might also be described as a Poly-clinic, a service that provides specialist care from a (private) GP surgery. It departs from existing UK medical service provision as it shortens the distance between a (private) doctor and their patient. Ease of access is arranged with appointments being:

  • available without referral from another doctor usually on the same day and out of hours
  • taken by multi-lingual private GP’s and specialists who speak: English, German and French
  • with diagnosis aided by ultrasound available on site for the specialists doctor sonographers

The Baby and Parent Directory rated it in 2013 as one of London’s top private health clinics and it was commended in the best professional services category by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce (2012).

Richmond Practice is the official doctor for the German and Austrian embassies in London. Other clients are International ISOS and the German School (DSL).
