Richard Wiegold

Richard Wiegold (born South Wales) is a bass opera singer.

Education

Wiegold originally trained as a cellist at the Royal Northern College of Music. He returned to the RNCM in 1999 as a postgraduate voice student.

Operatic Roles

Wiegold made his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2009 as Doctor Grenvil in Verdi's La Traviata. He appeared with the Canadian Opera Company in 2008 as Il Commendatore in Mozart's Don Giovanni and Arkel in Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande. In 2010 he made his debut at the Prague State Opera as King Marke in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde. His other operatic roles include Fasolt and Fafner in Wagner's Das Rheingold, Hunding in Wagner's Die Walküre, Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and The Green Knight in Lynne Plowman's Gwyneth & the Green Knight.
