Rezo Kaishauri
Rezo Kaishauri () (born in 1974 in Tbilisi, Georgia) is a Georgian artist, working in surrealism, symbolism and fantasy art genres.
He graduated from Nikoladze Art School (Tbilisi, Georgia) in 1994 and began to work as a designer for a serigraphy printing company. In 1995-1998 he created his first surrealistic portfolios, called Body Language, Black CoFFEE and Paranoia, representing the three different directions of his artwork. Body Language contains the works which might be classified as [...] symbolism, while Paranoia collates more Dali-influenced artwork, with polymorphous imagery and visual insinuations. As to the Black Coffee series, inspired by the actual images from coffee grounds and based on earlier black-and-white sketches, this portfolio significantly differs from the other two, combining the spirit of classical surrealism with distinctive composition resembling dried grounds in a coffee cup.
The same period Kaishauri, inspired by various fantasy books and artwork, tried his skills in fantasy art, but soon decided to continue with his mainstream, returning to fantasy art only occasionally.
In 1998 he abandoned the serigraphy company and turned to offset printing. Trying several different advertising agencies and printing companies, finally he determined as an independent designer. Presently he tries to maintain the balance, continuing with his design work, but still finding time for the art.
Drawing technique
Rezo Kaishauri draws his pictures on paper using simple media β colored pencils, ballpoint pens, gouache, etc. β but the confluent strokes, sharp edges and smooth gradations result in rich and vivid artwork which is sometimes confused with oil paintings when viewed through the Web.
