Education

Reza started off with studying undergraduate Biology at University of California Santa Barbara until 1997. He continued his Post Graduate training for Cranio-Facial Molecular Biology at the University of Southern California until 1998. It was at this time that his desire to help others led him to medical school where he received his Medical Doctorate degree from the Saba University School of Medicine in 2004. He immediately got accepted into the residency program of Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology, a major affiliate with the Weil-Cornell College of Medicine. During his time in residency he collected many accolades including Resident of the Year honors 2 years successively along with The Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons National Achievement awards. He graduated being the only resident in his program history to have ever been awarded all four major achievements in the same year: Valedictorian, Resident of the Year, Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons National Achievement award, and Chief Administrative Resident of his graduating class .

Immediately upon graduating he traveled Asia and Europe extensively along with surfing individual parts of Indonesia. He joined the University at Buffalo, SUNY as a full time faculty associate clinical professor immediately upon return and is currently the Fellow in the sub-specialty of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Buffalo, State University of New York.

Dr. Askari has had the opportunity to work with two of the best doctors in his field. In May 2006 his experience in Gyn-Oncology and Robotic Surgery precepted by Dr. Ramin Mirhashemi in Torrance, California was as he quoted "mind-blowing". In addition, he went through the observership of Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery precepted by the world-reknown Dr. Farr Nezhat at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City later that year. Dr. Nezhat, along with his brothers Ceanna and Camran, are known as the pioneers in the field of gynecologic endoscopy. These experiences encouraged him to follow the path of Dr. Mirhameshi and Dr.Nezhat and sub-specialize in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeries himself.

He is currently board eligible passing his written exam on June 29, 2009.
