Reynwood Communications

Reynwood Communications is a family owned provider of business-class hosted phone service, founded in 2003 and located in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. As one of the first customers of the then fledgling company Broadsoft, Reynwood installed the Broadworks VoIP pbx platform at its data center in New York. Selling to predominantly government and small business clients, Reynwood found favor as a new alternative to traditional on-premise Business telephone system solutions.

Early installations of VoIP solutions in business have proven challenging. Often meeting resistance from IT departments that questioned the reliability and dependability of a phone service delivered over IP networks. The concerns where rightly focused on the real-time nature of human conversation. Latency (audio), Jitter and Packet loss in everyday web-browsing does not significantly degrade the user experience however, in voice systems, even minor issues affecting the smooth and predictable flow of sound can be picked up easily, leading to a poor impression of the service. To combat The Effects of mixing data and voice on the same physical network, some early solutions physically separated the voice and data networks to PReVENT the erratic and often high traffic demands of office services from influencing and degrading the performance of the voice services. This was effective but proved expensive to implement.

The evolution of traffic management solutions to control and guarantee Quality of service or QoS in network traffic flow has now eliminated virtually all risks in VoIP solutions. Indeed, with these issues now resolved, good network design using Overlay networks and Mesh networking can ultimately deliver a more resilient solution than that previously available using traditional POTS technology.

Wholesale Termination

In 2006, Reynwood branched out into wholesale termination of call minutes. Acting as a switched-based long distance carrier, Reynwood entered into a new business venture that now covers all US and Canadian North American Numbering Plan codes with special focus on an ever expanding on-net footprint represents approximately â…“rd of the entire US NANPA codes. This change signaled the move into processing very high volumes of call minutes, millions per month. This move also highlights the changing face of the telecoms market place, a place where a small business can become significant players in a market traditionally dominated by the incumbent providers.

Expansion, New Office
