Ren Zeming
Ren Zemin (; born May 1954) is a Chinese politician who served as Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection from 2009 to 2017 and as the inaugural Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Supervisory Commission in 2017. Earlier in his career, he served as Head of the Organization Department of the Chinese Communist Party Shanxi Provincial Committee and as leader of the discipline inspection group stationed at the General Administration of Press and Publication.
Biography
Ren was born in May 1954 in Guiyang, Guizhou. He began working in September 1970 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in June 1978. He graduated from the Department of Industrial Economics at Guizhou College of Finance and Economics (now Guizhou University of Finance and Economics) with a bachelor's degree in economics.
After graduating from university in 1982, Ren entered the Ministry of Labor and Personnel, where he held a series of positions related to labor administration and employment policy. He successively served as deputy director of the Enterprise Labor Management Division, director of the Enterprise Management Division, deputy director-general of the Department of Labor Management and Employment, and director-general of the Department of Labor Relations and Supervision. Between 1995 and 1996, he attended a one-year training program for young and middle-aged officials at the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party.
Following the establishment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in 1998, Ren became director-general of its Department of Legislation. In 2001, he was appointed head of the discipline inspection group of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection stationed at the General Administration of Press and Publication, while concurrently serving as a member of the administration's Party Leadership Group.
In February 2005, Ren was transferred to Shanxi, where he was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Head of its Organization Department. In April 2009, he was transferred to Zhejiang and appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Following the pilot reform of China's national supervisory system, Ren became the inaugural Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Supervisory Commission in January 2017 while concurrently serving as secretary of the provincial discipline inspection commission. He left both positions in April 2017 after reaching the mandatory retirement age.
Ren was elected a member of the 16th and 18th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
