Relations in Motion

Relations in Motion (RiM)is a voluntary 1 organization in 2 Bangladesh which dedicated to convey the voice of young generation and encourage them to get involved in community in order to promote primary education among illiterate people, eradicate extreme poverty by fund raising, deal with natural calamity and environmental issues, rapport building in community etc.

Origins

“Relationships through voluntarism” with this motto of RiM. “RiM” was established on August 4, 2011 by a group of wholehearted youth. It is an excellent platform for youth to develop and enhance their communicative and leadership skills, to innovate new ideas, public speaking etc. The organization’s main aims and objectives are making a good relationship with community and reduce social problem through voluntarism, empowering the youth, making illiterate free Bangladesh, removing social disparity, conducting social awareness campaign, making students apt for the age by conducting seminars, conferences, workshops, various competitions etc. We conduct skills development workshops, extensive training for youth, various projects and social awareness campaigns, and promotional activities.

Aims and Objectives

As a youth voluntary organization the RiM's aims are:

  • To make a good relationship with community and reduce social problem through voluntarism.
  • To make youth as efficient manpower by giving effective leadership training.
  • To bring women in the mainstreamed platform so that they can lead from the front.
  • To make illiterate free Bangladesh by providing primary education; remove social disparity; conduct social awareness campaign; provide ICT service to everyone etc. and collaborate governmental and non-governmental organizations, international organizations, donor organization, development partners, and other correlated organizations.
  • To motivate the youth in taking positive and active actions for global harmony, cultural interactions and the knowledge exchange
  • To encourage voluntarism and students’ social responsibility towards society
  • To make students apt for the age by conducting seminars, conferences, workshops, various competitions etc.

Activities

The principal activities of ‘RiM’ are:

  • RiM has a strong educational component, including skills development workshops, round table discussions and a community action component where students work on local projects and share best practice.
  • Organizing extensive training for student presenters and collaborating with school/college institutions.
  • Conducting various projects and campaigns to make better relationship with community and aware the mass people.
  • Organizing promotional activities on the issues concerning burning global problems or on personal development.
  • Observing various important national and international days.
  • Capacity building of school/college’s students through various activities i.e. quiz competition, essay competition.
  • Working with other national and international organizations and organizing cultural and youth exchange programs.

Cleaning project

“Think clean, think green,Make it Habit” with this slogan “Relations in Motion” organized a cleaning campaign on March 11, 2012 in Jahangirnagar University which was shaped to set up an example in Jahangirnagar University as well as in Bangladesh so that other can follow. 100 students from different university and colleges and 20 teachers joined this two hours long cleaning campaign wearing a green t-shirt. The rationality of this cleaning campaign project is:

  • To start with educated people
  • To start working locally
  • JU is the only residential university in Bangladesh
  • It is called the GREEN CAMPUS
  • To set an example so that others can follow

Main Goals

Target Group

  • Target group is primarily university students and faculties.
  • target persons were 15,000 students and 500 faculties of Jahangirnagar University. Initially, 100 students and 20 teachers joined the cleaning campaign.

Rapport Building in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) through University Student Leaders

The goal of the project is to address the challenges of Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh and make a good relationship between indigenous hilly people and mainstreamedBengalis. Almost 50 university student leaders were promoted primary education in remote hilly areas within mainly those people who are out of education. As well the student leaders had given a series of presentations more than 10 schools/colleges in three Hill Tracts districts, till 19 July 2012. The first ever “Inter University Indigenous-Bengali Student Conference” will be held in Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka for better mutual understanding and development of the CHT. Along with students trusted and popular political scientists, human rights activists, and intellectuals will attend the conference.

The project will improve the knowledge and understanding of the people of the CHT in which the target group primarily is youth. The series of presentations will build awareness about ethnic cultural coherence, human rights, good governance, etc. The student leaders, on the other hand, will go through 10 extensive leadership and skill development workshops, public speaking, group work and dynamics, and community-building.
