Reformed Oriental Orthodox

A Protestant Oriental ( Reformed Oriental Orthodox Church) is a church that is in schism from an Oriental Orthodox Church and adheres to Evangelical doctrines. Currently two churches are known as "Reformed Oriental Orthodox".

Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church

The Church in India or commonly known as The Malankara Church was founded by the apostle St. Thomas in the year 52 A.D. The church was self-governing and was eventually associated with the Syriac Orthodox Church. Later in the 1800s, a Syriac Professor and priest named Abraham Malpan introduced changes in liturgy, doctrine, and tradition. This huge reformation infuriated the established Church, but convinced some people to support The New changes. The metropolitan then excommunicated Abraham Malpan. He then went to his home parish at Maramon and celebrated the newly revised Holy Qurbana. He sent he nephew Deacon Mathew to Syria with falsified papers to be ordained as an episcopa. On his way back, he picked up a proclamation stating he was the metropolitan of the Malankara Church. This caused even a more stir in the Church. Eventually people who continued to follow the Catholicose were known as The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (Indian Orthodox) and the people who supported the reformation and Mathews Mar Athanatisus were known as the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church (Mar Thoma Church). The Patriarch of Antioch personally came to Kerala to settle this dispute. The reformation faction was excommunicated and the courts agreed that all property remain with the established Church. The reformed Marthoma Church is not in communion with any Orthodox body, however the Marthoma Church is in full communion with the Church of South India, Church of North India & the larger Anglican Communion, and the Malabar Independent Syrian Church in India which is independent.

Ethiopian Orthodox Tehadeso Church

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tehadeso Church is a church that reformed its self from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. It firmly believes in Jesus, Mary and the Holy Spirit. It is different from other Protestant churches in Ethiopia, but resembles the Penta-Church in the country
