Reduced Offset Lempel Ziv

Reduced Offset Lempel Ziv, (ROLZ) is a modification to the LZ77 compression algorithm, in contrast to which it is using some contextual methods. It was developed by Ross Williams in 1991 as Lempel Ziv Ross Williams (LZRW). Its first usable implementation is as part of the WinRK compression suite. With the QUAD compressor there is a free implementation (licensed under the LGPL).
