Realms of Kaos: Revolution
Realms of Kaos: Revolution was a graphical MUD still in development stages. In April of 2006, Realms of Kaos: Revolution (RoK: Revolution) was created by several former staff members from the original Realms of Kaos. This group was formed after having been let go in a blanket dismissal of all seated management by the newly-appointed management of RoK in February of 2006. In July 2007, development of the game ceased and the server was taken off-line.
The intention of Realms of Kaos: Revolution was to continue from where the original "left off" in 2005 and used a majority of the items, rooms, monsters, and quests from the original. The basic structure of the two games was essentially the same although it was speculated that they would both evolve into two distinctly separate versions, had the project lasted for any significant period of time.
The two games began to deviate significantly beginning in April 2006. RoK: Revolution was maintained and developed by a team of coders along with a start-up staff of Administrators, Wardens, Graphic Artists, Writers and Builders, the majority of whom were long-term staff members from the original game.
One significant improvement over its predecessor was a feature that allowed players to participate in the game's development through the "Suggest an Event" program. This program allowed players to develop in-Game events to be promoted and run by staff, subject to approval.
Some of the brightest and best staff members, victims or a terrible injustice at the hands of the new managers of Realms of Kaos, were the ones developing and maintaining the game. The loss of RoK:Rev is a sad moment for the MUD playing community.
