David Rawle founded the company in 1975 , as “David Rawle & Associates” in Charleston, SC. By the 1980s, the company had become a leading regional agency.
Bruce Murdy joined the company in 1987 from the Chicago advertising agency Benton & Bowles. He rose to become a partner in 1990 and the company was subsequently renamed Rawle Murdy Associates, Inc.
