RAW activities in Pakistan
India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) has long been accused by Pakistani Government and Pakistani experts for sponsoring [...] in Pakistan. According to The Nation of Pakistan, "While Pakistan wants good friendly relations with Afghanistan, the latter's intelligence agency NDS has joined hands with The INDIAN secret service RAW to carry out subversive activities in Pakistan at a time when its war against terror is in decisive phase." According to Pakistan, RAW has been sponsoring [...] in Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan by providing military funds to the Baloch separatist groups like Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Republican Army (BRA) to destabilize Pakistan. Quoting The Nation again, "NDS would assist RAW in Balochistan to sustain its operations linked to Baloch separatist groups." NDS is Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security.
History
Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was established in 1968 due to the failure of then Intelligence agencies in 1962 Sino-Indian War and Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 to create a specialized and independent agency to gather foreign intelligence information. RAW has been accused since it's formation to violate International laws by providing funds to the Anti-Pakistani groups and designated [...] groups in Pakistan to destabilize the country. RAW is also accused of training and funding Bengal separatists against West Pakistan in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War to divide Pakistan into two countries.
Wright-Neville writes that outside Pakistan, some Western observers also believe that India secretly funds the BLA. In August 2013 US Special Representative James Dobbins said Pakistan's fears over India's role in Afghanistan were “not groundless". A diplomatic cable sent on December 31, 2009, from the U.S. consulate in Karachi and obtained by WikiLeaks said it was "plausible" that Indian intelligence was helping the Baloch terrorists.
Notable RAW agents in Pakistan
Kulbhushan Jadhav
Ravindra Kaushik
On 3rd March 2016, Kulbhushan Jadhav was arrested inside Balochistan in Mashkel near the border region of Chaman, having made illegal entry into Pakistan via Iran. Kalbhushan Yadav was an active raw agent who had been funding Baloch separatists for many years. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also released a video of Jadhav confessing that he had been funding Baloch separatists and sponsoring [...] in Balochistan and Karachi. A charge which is totally denied by RAW.
Ravindra Kaushik was a RAW agent who was sent to Pakistan with a fake name of Nabi Ahmed Shakir and was able to join Pakistan Army. He joined Army as a clerk and passed on valuable information to RAW. After eight years of service in RAW, Kaushik was arrested by Pakistan army and later was sentenced lifetime imprisonment.
Ties with Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was formed in December 2007 to fight against the Pakistani Government and security forces to implement Sharia Law in the country and after Pakistan's support in Global War on [...]. TTP is not directly affiliated with Afghanistan's Taliban but the ideology of both the organizations are similar. Pakistan, United Kingdom, United States of America and Canada have designated TTP as a [...] organization.
RAW has been accused of providing military aids to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to carry out [...] attacks across the country. In April 2017, Ehsanullah Ehsan (Taliban spokesman) surrendered himself to the Pakistan Army. Ehsan is the former spokesman of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and had confessed to the bombings of November 2012 on Shiites, 2014 Wagah border [...] attack, 2016 bombing in a park in Lahore and many other bombings. On his surrender, Ehsan claimed that TTP was getting funding from RAW.
"I saw there that our commanders received money from RAW and Afghan agency NDS for [...] activities,” said Ehsan after his surrender to the Army. He also said that “While crossing the border, we use to have special contacts with NDS and Afghan military and with their support and cooperation, we crossed the border for [...] activities in Pakistan,”.
Ehsan revealed that TTP has close ties with RAW who funds TTP for [...] attacks in Pakistan.
