Queplix Corporation is a USA high-tech company based in Princeton, NJ, USA. It produces and distributes computer software applications designed to enable universal enterprise search solutions for large corporate systems. Its flagship platform technology QueCrawler with several enterprise products built on it: QueSearch and QueWeb Applications, both core of many Enterprise Search products. It employs over 50 people in its several offices worldwide.

History

In 2004, Queplix Corporation created first implementation of QueCrawler with a task to crawl and index structured data. Since 2004 the paltform evolved into several products in order to provide access to structured data (data contained in the enterprise applications) and combined with unstructured data (text, spreadsheets, PDF, etc). The challenge in indexing structured data is in being able to provide access to such information without breaking security and access control list as defined within the applications which own the data.

QueCrawler platform was created in order to provide secure access to structured data for enterprise users. The platform initially was used to provide access to abandoned legacy applications, whose vendors were no longer in business, had been acquired or end-of-lifed the software. Additional products emerged built on the QueCrawler platform, expanding into Customer Care, finance, pharmaceutical research and other verticals, as well as adding various enterprise applications to the list of crawled and secure-indexed contents such as SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, Siebel and others.

In 2008 Queplix released a Google Search Appliance enabled version of QueSearch product, enabling GSA to crawl and index structured data, apply PageRank algorithm to it and present relevant and secure data to enterprise users; while utilizing the power of GSA search in the back end. Next version of QueSearch being developed for 2009 release will enable InQuira and Endeca search products to work with structured data in a secure way.

In 2008 Google awarded Queplix enterprise partner status and placed it on the Google Solutions Portal.

Search Technology

Enabling Universal Enterprise Search: The search for information in the world of enterprise (corporation, non-profit organization, government entity, etc.) is different than the search for information in the world of an individual. Among many factors that make enterprise search unique are: 1) Information is behind the firewall and is usually not accessible from the outside world 2) Information is contained in multiple entity silos (vast amount of diverse computer systems that usually do not interact or share information with each other) 3) Most information is stored in the form of structured data (in databases), as opposed to individual search where most information is stored in the form of unstructured data (documents, pictures, HTML and XML files) 4) Information is structured in entities which often contain common enterprise-shared data in addition to a unique silo-specific data. Queplix enterprise search solution provides essential capabilities for Enterprise Search users:

- Searches any number of structured and unstructured data sources across organizational silos - Searches all silos with a single query - Combined with Google Search Appliance (GSA), Queplix provides fast query response (in milliseconds). - Returns comprehensive, ranked results that enable enterprise users to easily locate information they are searching for, while providing only information they are allowed to access. - Integrates with all enterprise systems and capable of handling data collection from diverse sources and index the data for fast retrieval. - Automatically discovers security roles and permissions stored in the Enterprise Database records and applies them to search. If information is available, but restricted for access to certain individuals, only users with proper authorizations will be given access to this information through search.

QueSearch Product

How IT Works: Queplix Universal Search product crawls and indexes all RDBMS-based enterprise applications (structured data) and combines index with various documents and HTML pages, etc (unstructured data). Examples of numerous enterprise systems that Queplix enables Universal Search for are: SAP©, Business Objects©, SalesForce.com©, Siebel©,Oracle Financials©, QueWeb©,MS Exchange© and Lotus Notes©, RightNow© and other enterprise systems.

Queplix QUSA provides unique features that fulfill universal search requirements for today’s and future enterprises, specifically: 1) Search based on relevancy and ranking of structured, as well as unstructured data 2) Search throughout multiple silos with “homogenization” of data (i.e. If the same customer exists in SAP and Salesforce.com, QueSearch will recognize such customer as one entity). 3) Secure search (i.e. search that recognizes rules and permissions within multiple silos for multiple entity users) 4) Search that can present up-to date information in real time. With QueSearch there is no need to create any data connectors, plug-ins or perform any integration work in order to enable universal data access. The QueSearch is distributed as a plug-and-play appliance. QueSearch provides a simple Search Administration interface where Search Administrators can perform various search related functions such as: Fine-tune business entities and their hierarchy, Adjust search results ranking by creating weighting for various enterprise business objects, Adjust search access permissions by creating new search groups and users and adjusting field-level permissions, Specify transaction-level real-time search indexation for frequently updated data objects.

QueSearch eliminates Enterprise Application Integration efforts by dynamically globalizing and joining information contained in all systems’ entities during the search. Searching for a customer name will produce up-to-date search results comprised from data fields extracted from SAP, Salesforce.com and billing system as well as related documents across the enterprise repository as long as the user has access to these data stores through individual applications or network access. Once you found what you were looking for you can view the data as HTML or start the business workflow in the source application simply by clicking the search result, or even initiate allowed business process actions displayed along the search results: i.e. create new PO, enter new Case, etc.

QueWeb Applications

QueWeb applications extend the QueCrawler platform. QueWeb engine allows to rapidly convert any legacy application into a supported and open standards application which can be maintained and supported right away. QueWeb applications allow an enterprise to extend investment they already made into legacy license costs, customizations and training. QueWeb application use the same technology utilized in QueSearch to crawl and recreate business entity from the legacy database and built a new thin-client front-end on top of existing data. Legacy data becomes accessible using established access control lists, while eliminating data migrations and bringing the legacy system onto the supported platform.
