Purple, Rock, Scissors is a small, full-service digital agency located in Orlando, Florida, specializing in digital strategy, marketing, web design and development. The agency services global non-profits, sports and entertainment companies, and national brands.

History

Formerly Hydra Studio, Purple, Rock, Scissors was originally established in the spring of 2002 by Bobby Jones.

Jones earned his degree in Digital Media from Full Sail University and began his career as a UI designer for Palm Pilot and a creative director for Relevant Magazine, a national publication company.

Bobby Jones, current CEO, founded Hydra Studio, but with the rapid growth of client base, services and employees, the company was rebranded Purple, Rock, Scissors in April 2009. With its origin in Orlando, the agency then expanded to another office in Brooklyn, New York. In 2010, the New York office was turned into an independent agency, with Orlando remaining the Purple, Rock, Scissors headquarter to date.

This company’s clients include Publix, Coca Cola, XV Enterprises, Fast Company, EA Sports, Better Homes and Gardens, Vizio, Tim Tebow, JTA, Florida Hospital, Home Depot, Metra Electronics, Asbury Park, City of Orlando, University of Florida, Valencia Community College, Habitat for Humanity, and Full Sail University.

Awards

Purple, Rock, Scissors has been recognized by the creative industry and by its local community of Orlando for its services. Campaigns for the Orlando Museum of Art, HIAS and The Asbury Park Boardwalk has won ADDYs, FWA, ReBrand 100, Pixel, Adobe Site of the Day, Applied Arts Interactive Media and Davey Awards. Purple’s work on the Orlando Museum of Art Web site was hailed by the Orlando Weekly as the best Orlando Web site rebrand in 2009.

In 2011, the agency was named a Webby Award Official Honoree under the Celebrity/Fan category for their creation of the Tim Tebow website, www.TimTebow.com . For this site, Purple, Rock, Scissors also won a Silver ADDY.

Purple, Rock, Scissors was named the Best Local Agency of 2010 by the Orlando Egotist.
