Psycho Dave
Psycho Dave was the surreal stand up comedy character created in 1999 by Welsh comedian and writer David Fellows. Originally billed as "Psycho Dave And His Stuffed Mum", he would perform alongside a life-size facimile of his dead mother in a wheelchair. In 2001 Psycho Dave appeared on the ITV 1 late night stand up show "Take The Mike" minus his Stuffed Mum, and continued to perform "alone" from that time onwards.
In 2005 David Fellows briefly swapped his Psycho Dave character for that of the ghost of Dylan Thomas when he took on the role of the Swansea Poet in the Welsh independent movie "Ugly Lovely Night".
2005 also saw David Fellows' comedy character present "The Bizarro World Of Psycho Dave" a four part comedy show on Swansea Local Radio, which also featured "Little Jim", also VOICED by David Fellows, a character who became a vertically challenged sidekick for Psycho Dave in his later internet podcasts.
In 2007 David Fellows was one of four winners of Channel 4's national "Gags To Go" competition - a competition created in conjunction with "The Comedy Unit" in Glasgow, to find new comedy writers and performers for new media. The winners of this competition went on to write "The Paranoia Show" - an audio sketch show, performed by actors, before a live audience at The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow. The show was available to download as a free podcast from the Channel 4 website.
Although Dave Fellows has retired from live stand up, his Psycho Dave character lives on in regular internet podcasts.
