Protection One is one of the largest providers of monitored security and fire alarm, video surveillance systems, and integrated remote system services in the United States. The company has approximately one million home and business customers, 65 branch offices, and 3,000 employees.
History
Protection One was founded in 1988, and the company’s corporate offices are located in Lawrence, Kansas. The company’s branch offices and monitoring centers are located across the United States, including offices in Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Dallas,Denver, Chicago, Boston and Atlanta. The company has two monitoring centers (one in Wichita, Kansas and one in Irving, Texas), plus a disaster recovery center that is also in Wichita.
Business Security
Protection One serves over 100,000 businesses with security services of various sizes, and boasts a national account team that provides installation, monitoring and service for national accounts and large business customers.
Residential Security
Protection One monitors hundreds of thousands of homes nationwide with security systems that are customized to the homeowner’s specifications. Protection One conducts home security evaluations before recommending specific security system components and design, and then monitors its components from one of their monitoring centers.
Web- and Text-enabled Remote System Access/Notification
With the launch of e-Secure in 2007, Protection One became the first national provider to introduce a Web-based service that enables its customers to access their own security systems through Internet-connected computers and cell phones. Protection One e-Secure customers also can receive e-mail and text notifications of certain events, as well as view video surveillance cameras via the Internet or cell phone.
Forbes.com List
In March 2008, Forbes.com published a list of America’s Most Trustworthy Companies. The list was based on an independent company’s research that ranked companies on honesty and openness. Protection One was the only security company listed.
