Pristine education
Pristine is a trading education company and a pioneer in online investment education. Headquartered in White Plains, NY and established in 1994, it offers investment and trading courses through live in person and online seminars, DVDs, newsletters, chat rooms and live and pre-recorded online classes. The educational focus is the Pristine Method (TM) of trading which is based on technical analysis. Its methods and techniques are used to identify trading and investment opportunities in the securities markets.
Founding
Founded during the early years of online trading by Oliver Velez and Greg Capra, well-known technical analysts andtraders (finance) and pioneers in the new field of day trading, the company was specifically created to provide technical analysis education and technical trading techniques and IDeaS to self-directed traders. The company started as a daily fax sheet outlining explanations of the day’s stock market activity and currently claims to have over 60,000 subscribers to its daily advisory services and conducts hundreds of multi-language seminars each year around the globe.
The founders, Oliver Velez and Greg Capra, are proponents of the use of technical analysis in the identification of investment opportunities in various markets and securities, such as stock, option (finance), futures contract, exchange-traded fund and forex (foreign exchange market). They have been extensively quoted in various media, including Investors Business Daily, New York Times, Wall St. Journal, Los Angeles Times and are the co-authors of the technical analysis book “Tools and Tactics for the Master Day Trader” which was published in 2000 and is still used today as a reference guide and primer by technical analysts and traders.
Oliver Velez left Pristine to found the professional trading firm Velez Capital Management (VCM) in February, 2007, now known as Team Trading. The name change was made in 2009 to better reflect the firm’s team oriented trading approach.
Competition
Pristine’s main competition are other financial education companies, schools and colleges, as well as large financial companies such as Scottrade, TD Ameritrade, and E*Trade which may offer investing education to the public.
