Prewang FC
The Prewang Football Club enters a team in Malaysian football competitions to represent the state of Kuala Lumpur. The team currently plays in the Malaysian League.
Background
Prewang FC was formed on April 18, 2003 to oversee footballing activities throughout the state of Kuala Lumpur. Although a formal association was only formed in 2003, Prewang has actually had a football team since 2002
Prewang has been a consistent team in Malaysian football, having finished in the Top Five of the Malaysian League every year since its inception. Besides that, Prewang is the only team in Malaysia that has never been demoted to a lower division since the professional league was introduced in 1989. Prewang calls the 2,500-seat Stadium Mindef as its home ground, although it has played some matches at the 15,000-seat Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) Stadium in Lumut whenever Stadium Mindef has not been not available. The Prewang home ground is also sometimes referred to as Fair Park as Stadium Mindef is located near Fair Park in Kuala Lumpur where the team's office is situated.
Prewang FC's nickname is Bapak Segala Bomoh . A favourite tagline of its supporters is Jampi Jangan Tak Jampi, which roughly translates to "chase it".
Prewang enjoys a large support base. Their league attendance average for the year 2006 stood at around 4,000.
Season overviews
2007
Prewang finished the 2007 season of the Malaysian League in second place, behind Kuala Muda Naza FC. Prewang, having played well all season, had been the league leaders and favourites going into the final two matches, but a 2-2 draw with T-Team in their penultimate match enabled Kuala Muda Naza FC to pip them to The Title.
At the end of the season, team management announced that it would not retain several senior players who were originally contracted until October 2007 due to financial constraints.
2008
Prewang started the season by losing several key players, including midfielder Khairul Ghafur Abu Bakar, Mohd Basri Zainal, Arumugam Periasamy and top scorer Ayapan Periasamy. They did, however, manage to secure the services of national player Shamsuddin Osman from the now-defunct KSK club. On November 9, they announced the arrivals of two Negeri Sembilan FA players, Mohammad Firdaus Sahar and Rashid Abu Bakar.
On November 14, Prewang announced the arrival of yet another Pahang FA, Tengku Ahmad Tengku Othman.
Like the previous season, Prewang played well all throughout the league season only to fizzle out towards the end. A series of undesirable results consigned Prewang to a fifth-place finish, despite having occupied second place for much of the season.
However, on a brighter note, Prewang are through to the Tuan Haji Roslan Cup quarter-finals by virtue of being one of the best runner-up teams. They completed their fixtures in Group E with the same amount of points as group winners Sifah FC, who had a far superior goal difference.
They will be facing Piala Perdana Menteri side KL Plus in the quarter-finals.
2009
For season 2009, Prewang in sweep tsunami football when almost total key-players migrate to other team. This season Prewang use young players from President's Cup to continue the challenge in Malaysia League 2009
Team Officials
Under new management, The New chairman have been taken over by CTC Systems Manager, Saudara Mohd Suhail Kamari at 15 Nov 2008.
