Pokémon 30th Anniversary

The , officially branded as Pokémon30, is a celebration held throughout 2026 in commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, which began with the original Japanese release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green for the Game Boy on Friday, February 27, 1996. The franchise was celebrated through various media of the franchise including video games, the anime, the manga, toys, clothing, music and events.

Initial Announcement

Collaborations in the run up to 2026

The 30th anniversary logo was first teased with the announcement of the Pokémon Day 2026 Collection TCG product on November 13, 2025. On November 13, 2025, the Pokémon Day 2026 Collection TCG product is announced for release on January 30, 2026. McDonald's and The Pokémon Company will be running a 30th anniversary promo between February and March 2026 to commemorate the longstanding franchise. Pokémon x UNIQLO UT 30th Anniversary Collection launches in late March 2026, featuring original watercolor artwork from the franchise's 1996 debut. The graphic tee lineup includes fan-favorite characters such as Charizard, Mewtwo, Gengar, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

Official Announcement Tease

The first official mention of the anniversary celebration was on December 31, 2025, where the logo was revealed. The Japanese 30th anniversary logo was revealed via a teaser animation on the official Japanese Pokémon social media accounts on January 1, 2026, 00:00 JST. The teaser animation was created by Odashi (おだし). The logo features the return of Fat Pikachu after 2 decades. The logo icon is similar to the one used for the 20th and 25th anniversaries.

Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Pokopia (ぽこ あ ポケモン, Poko A Pokemon) is an upcoming 2026 life simulation game developed by Koei Tecmo's Omega Force and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch 2. It is set to release on March 5, 2026.

Pokémon Champions

Pokémon Champions is an upcoming 2026 strategy video game developed by The Pokémon Works and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS. It is set to be released in 2026.

On the Nintendo Switch, both a free-to-start version and a paid Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack (Japanese: 『Pokémon Champions』 + スターターパック Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack) bundle is set to be available.

This is the first game from The Pokémon Works, a joint venture between The Pokémon Company and ILCA. As a turn-based strategy game, it is expected to be similar in gameplay to the Pokémon Stadium series of video games, and will feature compatibility with Pokémon Home and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as cross-platform play between mobile platforms and Nintendo Switch. It has been confirmed to support the generations 6-9 gimmicks of Mega Evolution, Z-Move, Dynamax, and Terastallization. The game will also be used in place of the latest game in the mainline series at VGC events organized by Play! Pokémon, including the Pokémon World Championships.
