PeterEkman
Peter Ekman (born 1962) is a Swedish-born business executive and CEO, primarily ACTIVE in the international wine and spirits industry. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Spring Mountain Vineyard in Napa Valley, California.
Early life and education
Ekman was born in Skövde, Sweden. In 1982, he graduated from the Skaraborg Regiment (P4) of the Swedish Armed Forces. He later attended the Örebro University, where he earned a degree in finance and economics in 1987. He is fluent in Swedish, English, and Norwegian.
Career
Ekman began his professional career at Procter & Gamble, holding various positions from 1987 to 1995. In 1997, he was recruited by Moët Hennessy to oversee winery and vineyard operations in the United States.
In 2001, Ekman was appointed to lead Wine.com following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. During his tenure, he integrated the intellectual property of Wine.com with e-vinyards.com to restructure the company’s business model and return it to profitability.
Throughout his career, Ekman has held leadership and advisory roles at several wine-related enterprises, including Bounty Hunter Wine & Spirits, Cosentino Wineries, and Crushpad. He was also a co-founder and Vice President of Ascentia Wine Estates.
In 2013, Ekman joined Vivino, a global online wine marketplace, as Chief Business Development Officer. He played a key role in developing the platform's commercial infrastructure.
As of 2023, Ekman serves as the CEO of Spring Mountain Vineyard, following its acquisition by MGG Investment Group.
