People's United Community

The People's United Community (PUC) is a British political group which publishes The Newspaper UK Column, maintains a news website, and stages conferences and public talks around the UK.

Beliefs

The organisation takes a hostile Eurosceptic stance toward British membership of the European Union, and particularly against the UK leadership development company Common Purpose UK. Broadly, PUC's claims are that: i) Common Purpose serves to undermine the democratic process in the UK, to the long-term benefit of the European Union; ii) that Common Purpose appears to use unproven techniques in its training courses, and that it allegedly promotes leadership styles that bypass democratic politics; and iii) that Common Purpose is a loosely-affiliated front organisation for the UK's current Labour government, and is being used to erode and bypass civil society in the UK.

Method of organisation

The People's United Community organisation urges its supporters to act within the law, and appears to encourage independent citizen journalism and investigative reporting of those in power. It does not support or align itself with any of the existing mainstream political parties, and believes that the UK is close to reaching a point of irretrievable crisis in terms of its democratic process. PUC does not appear to put up candidates for election in UK elections.
