People & Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

People & Animal Welfare Society Inc (PAWS) is a non-profit animal-rights organisation founded in 2000, based in Perth, Australia. Their goal is to create a society in which humans and animals may coexist without the threat of cruelty or exploitation. PAWS promotes current human and animal welfare issues and environmental issues and provides information and education on these topics.

Mission statement

"To introduce and maintain projects that encourage environmental sustainability, sensible agriculture, community welfare and education, and that display harmonious and productive relationships between humans and animals thereby creating greater peace within society."

Services

PAWS offers complimentary vegan meals to visitors, with the goal of showing others that they can live a healthy, cruelty-free lifestyle without compromising their quality of life. The group also operates a store that offers cruelty-free and allergen-free products that have not been tested on animals.

PAWS has recently established a community garden just outside of the city. Combined with the efforts of other community groups, the goal is to promote a sustainable and sensible agricultural site, while also providing agricultural training to the local community. The garden will benefit the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encourage the community to do the same.

A supporter of the "Work for the Dole" program initiated by the government, PAWS provides work experience and aid in job searches.
