Pellier Noir
Pellier Noir is a photographic style used predominantly in social event photography. It is a low key lit style of photography. The style was made popular by Paul Rogers of Pellier Photography.
With the advances of digital imagery and dye sublimation printers Event photography in the early 21st Century became a boom sector within photography. Social event photography, was and mainly remains a discipline of event photography where a mobile studio is erected and guests at events such as proms, charity balls, and other black tie events have their portraits taken predominantly against white or mottled backdrops. But in 2007 Paul Rogers then of Pellier Event Photography experimented with the first wholesale use of a black background for commercial Social Events. Following the immediate success, and subsequent notice of other event photographers, Pellier Noir became a brand and style synonymous with low key portraits at events.
In July 2010 Paul Rogers rebranded Pellier Event Photography to Pellier Noir to embrace the new brand and style.
