Paul Hopkin

Paul Hopkin is a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management and project leader for the development of the Professional certification ISO 31004, the implementation guide to the international risk management standard, ISO 31000. He was most recently Technical Director at the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers Airmic. He was previously Director of Risk Management for The Rank Group Plc and prior to that Head of Risk Management at the BBC. He is also a writer and published author.
Career
Hopkins spent eight years as Technical Director of Airmic (Association of Insurance and Risk Managers in Industry and Commerce) representing the association and lobbying of organisations such as the Financial Conduct Authority on behalf of members. In the commercial world he has held various posts including at The Rank Group plc. For three years, Hopkins headed Risk Management at the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) where he was responsible for development of the methodology for identification and documentation of the significant risks facing the BBC, implementation of a structure for enhanced standards of business and broadcasting continuity across the corporation and successful upgrading of the safety management system.
